hi all - i know this conversation has come up already but i couldnt quite find the help i was looking for.
im currently doing a crankset/bb overhaul on my 80s univega and was hoping to get the new bb and crankset installed tonight, but have run into a weird issue.
i thought i was using the right specs, a sugino rd2 crankset with a 68-103 bb, both JIS square tapered but when i tighten both crank arms on the spindles there is a pretty decent space. it seems like both crank arms are supposed to go in closer to the bb. ive tightened the crank bolts pretty decently too and they aren't closing in on the bb.
attached are some pictures. thanks for bearing with me and i hope you all can help me out - im trying to teach myself all this and do the conversion on my own.
