So I'm having this problem. I'm doing serpentine-style turns on single track and I feel like I'm right at the apex when I start spinning pedals again and I seem to continuously find pedal strike.
If I wait even one more rotation into the turn, I'm going to have to drop a gear and start spinning harder to make up the momentum loss. I'm shifting weight, doing everything else right to feel momentum stay with me into the deeper turns, but I'll be damned if it's not like clockwork that I strike at least 4-5 times a run in a 6.2 mile course.
I'm using a set of wellgo platform/SPD-style pedals with the SPD side. Could it just be that the platforms are really (and we're talking maybe 2 inches) too much to be running out there? I picked up another set of 540s this weekend, but when I got them home it became obvious rather quick that one of the two pedals is a 540 and the other is a 520 (both rights) so I'm stuck with the wellgos until Monday at least.
So what are you turn fighters doing deep in the apex of turns, especially root-heavy ones where you have to pick a line and pray that you don't pedal strike into roots midway through the turn?
