Touring - Northern MA/Southern VT loop suggestions?

Hi!

I am planning a 5 or 6 day bike tour loop heading north from either Northampton, MA or the Brattleboro, VT area. (We are flying into Bradley Airport and may or may not rent a car). We are all trail runners and bikers in decent shape, but want a relaxed ride with time for lunch, ice cream, and a glass of wine at the end of the day. I'm thinking between 35-40 miles a day depending on the hills.

We'll be renting bikes somewhere, so ideas on that also appreciated.

Does anyone have any route suggestions? How's the biking from Northampton into VT?

Thanks so much! Amy

Amy,

If you don't mind going a bit north into Vermont you might want to look at some of the loops suggested in the Heart of Vermont map (http://www.champlainbikeways.org/maps.htm) produced by Lake Champlain Bikeways. ( http://www.champlainbikeways.org/maps.htm ) The map is available in PDF format online. If you're interested in the entire set of Lake Champlain Bikeways routes you can purchase the map through Local Motion (http://www.localmotion.org) in Burlington, Vermont (a non-profit bike/ped advocacy organization).
