Mountain Biking - 13 tooth to 11 tooth jockey wheels, can I do without any problems

I just bought a set of aluminum jockey wheels with ceramic bearings on sale at a local bike shop. They said that they work on all shimano and sram systems, but I noticed when I went to install that mine are 13 tooth and the ones I bought are 11 tooth. Will they still work. Since they were on sale I can`t return them. Let me know if you think they will work without a problem. My rear derailer is a shimano alivio.

As long as they will "bolt in" (fit in place without having to modify anything), there should be little/no issue. It's when you try to go the OTHER way (from 11 to 13) that problems really start. There will just be extra space inside the chain-carrier (the "cage").

The important part of this swap is the screws/bolts that you have to remove to get the old jockeys out; if the new fits right in place of the old without slop, doesn't bind, and spins well, you're good.
