Introductions - new to cycling on the web, still feel like I am 10y/o when I ride!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

:) Hello,
I grew up riding bikes and was mostly a "dirt girl" because I spent my summers in Canada in the woods and the rest of the year on Long Island riding the roads. Always preferred the dirt until 3 yrs ago.
I took up mtn biking, own a Kona Cindercone (the last of the cromo framed models) and my 30 something body was thankful for the front shock. Accidently discovered road riding and I love it. Recently brought a Raleigh R600 and put on a carbon fork. I am happy to discover that there are better road bike options out there for the under 5'3" rider that didn't break the bank.
I am happy to find this forum, from what I read this is a nice group of fellow cyclists!
When I ride, I feel like I am a ten year old going out to play!

WELCOME, Stella. Hope to hear more from you and about you.

How's the riding around Providence?

How do the motorists treat bikers?

I've been to Newport several times because of the boating, but never spent time in your city.

:) Thanks for all the welcome notes! ljbikes, I just wanted to respond to your question. It depends on where you ride in RI, in the part of the city I live in and commute in, the traffic treats us well. There are parts of Providence that are "not so kind" and the same holds true for Newport.
Also, we have some wonderful bike paths that are developed and some are being developed. It is a nice State for cyclists.
I saw you're from Maine, that is where I went to college! (Many, many hills ago)
