I NEED a Crystalyte Phoenix Racer 5303 in a rear 26" rim.

I need it to accept a 6" disk brake.

You might try itselectric.ca in Calgary...they might have the new Crystalyte motor as well (somewhere between a 9C and 5303 I gather).

You could probably buy one directly from crystalyte....http://crystalyte.com/

I thought you were going with the 5304.

@chvid - I can't seem to find anything but complete conversion kits on the itselectric.ca site. However, I'll call them tomorrow.

@morph999 - I'm 99% sure that the Crystalyte site only ships in bulk to distributors. But I'll check up on that too.

@jethro56 - 5303 is what I'm looking for.

@All - ebikes.ca has one, but it's $499 instead of $469'ish, AND it's laced into a 20" wheel. This means I'd have to pay ANOTHER $70 to have the wheel rebuilt. Then I'd pay shipping. YIKES!

On the other hand, the $469 motor has the wrong connectors on it. I need Andersons... Screwed either way. I'm going to take wire cutters to my brand new motor, or I'm going to pay through the nose.

Another thing... The picture of the motor on ebikes.ca shows a SILVER motor housing. Isn't that the 400 series??? Those are half the size and power.... What's up with that?
---------------------------
At this point, I would consider getting one of those new HS models. I HAD decided against it for two reasons...

First of all, they are advertising them as, MUCH LIGHTER! Which in my mind translates to CHEAP CHINESE CRAP!

Secondly they don't have Hull Sensors. Which means the bike will shutter violently from a stand still, and FORGET about going up a hill from a stand still. It's not happening.

They are supposed to release some with the hull sensors, but nobody has them yet. =\

@Jethro - You may already know this, but...

The Phoenix comes in 4 flavors.

Brute (5305)
Cruiser (5304)
Racer (5303)

And then they have a 5302 which is crazy crazy fast, and really only meant for smaller wheels. (48V, 40A, 26", 5302, 75MPH!!!) <== Imagine that at 100 Volts. Suicide. Wheel Taco Death!

My 5303 has a silver housing. You can find them in black or silver. What do you want your bike to be able to do? And what do you want it for? Maybe I can help you find a setup that would work well.

Also, do you live in a relatively flat location or does it have lots of steep hills? If you buy a 5303 and you have lots of steep hills, it might be a mistake.

Cruiser, you think?

It's really not that hilly here. A couple hills, here and there.

The HS3540 can be ordered with hall sensors. They may not be needed the jury is still out. What I've read is that they're much like my 9C 2807 only faster using high voltage. Some have speculated that the 53** series will be phased out as the 400 series have been. The weight savings (cheaper?) are from using a stamped stator frame versus a cast one. It may actually dissapate heat better. Time will tell. Your hills look like mountains to me.

That theory about the stamped stator dissipating heat better sounds backwards to me. It's hollow, and made from much less metal. More metal = larger heat sink. IMHO.

They just sound cheaply constructed to me...

I'm about to call ebikes.ca to have them rebuild that 5303 into a 26" wheel for me. They open at 11AM PST. (2PM EST)

Good choice. I think you'll like the 5303 especially from ebikes.ca . I think they use really thick spokes for their builds because I hit a very deep pothole on mine and no damage at all. They take their e-biking very seriously.

Yes, they use Phil Wood spokes. (No they are not made of wood. lol)

I have done a little business with ebikes.ca by now, and I have been nothing but pleased. I can't wait for the motor to arrive.
