Mountain Biking - XC Race Bike suggestions for Shorter Rider

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My sister is doing some xc races with her high school team. Right now she has a specialized hardrock, but it is heavy. I would like to get some suggestions for a hardtail in the 1k range, most likely used. She is 4'9" and rides bikes with 67cm/26" standover height so sizing can be difficult. She has shorter legs/longer torso, so female geometry is not a requirement. Anybody have any recommendations?

santa cruz makes x small bikes, and the julana is a really sweet bike. also rocky mountain makes a great bike that would fit her. oh, and it's pretty cool you specified leg/torso length, that is good info to know. good luck.

Giant XTC in XXS is a very solid, light frame, for a petite gal.
