Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Need Some Suggestions on Upgrades

I recently purchased a State Bicycle and there are a couple of things really bothering me such as the pedals, toe clip/strap, and the bar (I have a drop bar). I've lost footing several times when skidding and I find the handlebar uncomfortable when sprinting. I currently have Wellgo Alloy Pedals and stock drop bars.

So, I was thinking of getting the MKS Sylvan Track Pedals http://www.retro-gression.com/product/mks-sylvan-track-pedals and I was thinking of getting these straps and toe clips http://www.retro-gression.com/product/4x-clips-straps-combo. I understand that these straps aren't the best and I'm aware that Toshi's are really good, but I'm not looking to spend too much money. So, if there are better straps that aren't too expensive, suggestions will be appreciated. I just don't want to loose footing.

Question tho why don't you like the drops on it now? If you dislike them then you might just dislike the eighth-inch drops too. Maybe try a friends bullhorns or something before you buy another set of drops?

Those are Major Taylor bars, I have the Kalloy version of that bar that I got at Ben's Cycle, the drop is shallow but there aren't really many places to put your hands except in the drops or next to the stem. I like being in the drops so it's comfortable to me, but if you like to sit on the hood position you are SOOL. As for the pedals/straps Scrod sells good stuff so I wouldn't worry about the quality. though I would look at his "V1.5 straps and twisted pedals"....they are soo much more comfortable than clips

If you really want control I'd suggest bmx pedals and retogression straps. I find that this Pedal/strap combo is way better as far as braking and mad skids are concerned.

The drops I have are more straight. Here's a link http://www.statebicycle.com/product_p/dropbarsslv.htm. When I sprint, I just don't find that when grip the bar, it's just uncomfortable.

I've yet to find a set of drops where I'm the slightest bit comfortable in the lower position. Maybe consider bullhorns?

I'll try my friend's bullhorns, but I'm probably gonna put off the bars.
