Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I finally completed the JTS build and took it out for a 100 mile shake down ride yesterday. I did not want to cross thread so I posted this on the commuting forum as this bike will see most of its miles on my 25-30 mile RT commute.
Included in the thread are pics of the new build plus the JTS with its big brother the MJ. I LOVE THESE BIKES!

How does the JTS ride compared to the MJ though?

Nice! From the way you're wrapped up I'm guessing it was windy on top of that dam?

Great question.
Both frames are 54cm. I actually cannot really tell much difference between the two other than weight and that has more to do with the fork, wheels and saddle than it does the frame. The scandium is lighter but not that much. Performance wise, both bikes really get up and go when I stomp on the pedals. They are both very responsive to rider input but not as much as my Tarmac or my TCR. The JTS has slightly more relaxed geometry (1/2 of 1 degree on both the ST and HT) but I could not really feel it on my shake down ride. The Major Jake seems to have slightly shorter (couple of millimeters) chainstays (based on my highly accurate "jam-your-fist-in-the-space" measuring method but That said, I have been off of the Major Jake for about 2 weeks ever since I sucked the rear der into the spokes on my commute...so I may just not be as clear on how the MJ felt. That said, I have many thousand miles on the MJ and I should be able to physically remember the feel, if that makes any sense.
In general, I am feeling today like there is minimal performance difference between the two frames other than weight.
I will put the new der. on the Major Jake and take them out for some testing and write up a side by side comparison.

LOL, actually, the top of the dam was the warmest spot on the whole ride. We caught hell in a wet/windy snowstorm just 30 minutes earlier. My bandanna was soaked and freezing. It was a wierd day weather-wise. I was sweaty but cold all day.
