Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I was in my commute to work today and it was the first time in a while I decided to ride in the wet for a long while. As I'm riding I decide to try an ultra cool hipster skid stop/slide thing and it ends up with my front tires losing traction after the back wheel kicks out down I go. My front wheel went out of alignment with my handlebars and my bar tape got torn a little, but just lingering in my head are thoughts of my bike possibly blowing up.
While I'm sitting here at the desk waiting for customers what are a few things I should check out on my bike?
the first thing you should do is load up paint on your pc and draw what happened and post it in the Paint your mishaps thread...
then, straighten your bars and properly tighten the stem and check your wheel for true

wheel trueness
bent fork - I doubt it since it sounds like you just slid
bent bar - also doubt it
brake centering
hood alignment
Are you using a threaded or threadless stem?

This is why they teach you to never lock your rear brakes.
Get some chalk or talcum powder and dust your frame to check for fractures.
love the mspaint! seriously though, glad you are ok
