View Full Version : Super Pista Sold, Now What?

So I sold my Super Pista Frame as it was a tad bit small for my tastes. So now I have some cash in hand looking for a new frameset. I really like the Super Pista and might just go with the same frame properly fitted, but i've also been looking into Masi Frames like the Fixed Ultimate or perhaps the Pista Dalmine (although just want a frame not a complete build).

Can anyone recommend some other frames in or around the $600-700 range?

I'm trying to use most of the components from my previous build but would be down to sell them if need be:

Nitto Seat Post
San Marco Seat
Deda Pista drops
Thompson Elite Stem
Nitto ADB-X Alloy Track Handlebars

man, a tad more than I wanted to spend but what a beautiful frame. I completely glossed over it when looking at the Masi site. I'd be more afraid to leave this locked up then I was with the Bianchi. This certainly makes the short list, thanks.

Now go hunt down what you really wish you had instead of the super pista, a celeste concept.

tempting however I enjoy the option of a front brake as I have no health insurance. Plus how could I tell my bike apart from all the other Pista Concepts in Brooklyn?

I say go NJS! But thats just me. But realistically I would say it would be determined on your riding style and function

dodici?[/QUOTE]

i was really looking into the dodici special frame but the fork isn't drilled for a brake, thus made it less of an option.

Sell your boat anchor wheels and get something more reasonable. Why bother with a nice frame when each wheel weighs more than it?

when i bought my friend's concept it came with a super pista fork instead (he traded with someone) which was actually really cool....the frame is going to be for actual track riding (albeit only 1nce a month) but i definitely will be riding it around on roads.

also, another super pista in the right size isn't a bad idea...just get the opposite color for kicks

Wabi or Traitor? Both have nice steel. Wabi offers custom paint. I ordered a Bob Jackson and the wait is killing me.

I think that thread that vw addict linked you to definitely has some potential. You should look into it some more and consider calling the guy up. Under $700 for a True Temper S3 with custom geometry is a stellar price if his work is good. But since it's a young business, that's a pretty big if.

Yeah I hear you on this point. I bought the bike as a complete build, so I didn't actually choose those B43's. I am torn as they are nice to look at and can handle the potholes, but damn are they heavy. Always bugged me that they make what would be a super light bike into a heavy beast.

street cred brah, op lives in Brooklyn, you live in Wisconsin.

yes the B43's do give me instant stret cred, check your local listings as your city may vary.

Can anyone tell me why this frame with carbon fork is only $499?

Ugly welds duh~ no craftsmanship involved = mass produced to the max
even $499 is a rip off. look.

that is why. They dont file the welds after like a super pista so that they can make it cheaper. Pake makes a great frame. If the welds are such a horrible sight to your eyes file them when you get it and repaint it whatever color you want or no color at all.

the devil is in the details. I think i am leaning towards a Bare Knuckle frame. Going to check one out today after work. I know a few people here on the forums have them and have nothing but good things to say. I also like that the frame is not full of decals as my former Bianchi bikes or say the Masi frames.

There are much better frames out there for the money you will spend on a Bare knuckle, e.g. Bob Jackson.

I'd suggest looking into this. From what I can tell its a pretty nice deal. You can get a great tube set, custom built to your specifications. If I were in NY and had the cash I'd do it. If I were in NY and had my leader, I'd probably sell my leader and my Jamis and get a high quality steel frame built up.

not that me being a n00b wasn't apparent already but are Bob Jackson frames really that good? I did look into them, but the wait time is something that is killing it for me.

bought a EAI bareknuckle w/ chris king headset - $395

now to sell off all the black components for silver ones.

My latest issue is now what BB & Crankset to get, looking for alternatives to the Sugino messenger set I just sold.

i have been leaning towards a used set of 75's as there were a few on CL posted locally for $240 including the BB. I need to finish this up and get some riding done!

the s75 bb is supremely nice if you don't mind going in and cleaning+regreasing occasionally.

and go for DA 7600s, just coz they're nice (and technically you're supposed to only go DA bb for that since it's short JIS, but i've been using my ISO s75 with it, no problems)

Great find Oramas, $395 with King is a good deal.

+1 about 7600, my friend is using 110mm Miche and it's been solid.

Yes, I was very lucky in that i thought i brought $475 when in reality I just got to blazed the night before and couldn't count properly so I show up at the meet after communicating all day with the seller who was using the $ from this sale to buy a road frame with only $375. I was horrified, not only b/c I looked like a scheming ****, but I didn't want to lose out on the frame. Luckily I pulled out another $20 from the depths of my pockets and the seller was cool with it. Apparently he had three other frames and was happy to find a good home for the EAI.

for the crankset / bb $240 isn't looking so bad for a pair of 75's but i'll look into the 7600's
