Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and need a little advice. I bought my first bike 4 weeks ago. Its a Specialized Myka HT Com 2010. I bought some padded underwear from Decathlon but this underwear doesn't seem to be working. Can anyone recommend a decent pair that will help? I am planning to start riding farther away but am worried just in case it hurts so much that I struggle to get back. :)

Thanks
Jo

The more you ride, the more you dial in your seat position and your legs get stronger to push you outta the saddle more. It'll help...
Sorry i can't directly answer your question, but heres more info on what i mentioned: l (http://sheldonbrown.com/saddles.html)

There is no silver bullet to make someone just beginning riding comfortable for hours-long rides.
It take many hours, and many miles, to toughen up your backside.
And understand that the chamois in shorts is there to prevent chaffing and absorb moisture, *not* to provide soft padding.
Padding, (if any), belongs in the saddle, and should be so firm that it is difficult to press your thumb into it.

Ok thanks for your replies! Much appreciated. I will grin and bear it until I am used to it. :-)

Just use the pain in your ass as motivation to stand up off the saddle & make your legs stronger. It's gonna hurt either way, but you can kill two birds with one stone by using you butt pains to stand & pedal harder, & then use your leg pains to sit & toughen up your backside.

I use Pearl Izumi Quest shorts, and PI Attack shorts, the Attacks fit much better
