i'm stretched out but i enjoy it and the various hand and body positions it gives me,

You can reduce the reach by raising the stem

gotta get a kilo and be cool

Just curious... why did you choose a black seatpost? and are you going to cover the handlebars at all? Something about that black doesn't sit right (but that's just one guys opinion)

My Kilo is now finished. I've had a lot of fun learning about bikes and turning mine into the one I wanted!

I dig it. I have a white kilo as well (stripped though). It's too bad white bar wraps end up looking like that. Love those rims and chain ring though, what are they?

Hey thanks man. The rims are Weinmann DP-18s and the chainring is a Sugino 48t standard ring that comes stock on the TT pro.

I love the use of the all city fork on the kilo, how did that change the geometry/feel?

Haha, cc700, I just got those bars about a week ago!

Anyway, I love the Kilo, but at this point there really is no point in getting one for me. Although I have a conversion, I have the feeling that Columbus rides better than whatever the Kilo has. I also don't really understand upgrading a kilo... I mean, my bars and crankset are worth the same as a kilo... If I had one I surely wouldn't be spending a lot of $$$.

cc700, since I know your kilo has a lot into it, could you tell me why you didn't just spend more on a nicer frame?

Do you know how condescending you sound?

I bet that you can't even tell the difference between your sweet Columbus steel conversion from the plain ole Reynolds 520 Kilo TT. Tires matter a lot when it comes to ride quality.

Which Columbus is your steel conversion made of anyways?

i didn't get a nicer frame because at the time this frame was all i could afford. i didn't have money when i got the frame.

also, when i got the frame it was frame and fork for 170 shipped.

i've had the frame for three and a half years. it's basically a testament to how great the frame is that i haven't upgraded yet.

thanks. i have been wanting a new frame lately, but that's actually mostly because the kilo isn't very stiff and entices me to ride it all the time because it's so pleasurable.

I can feel the difference between Reynolds 853 (my bike) and Reynolds 520 (Kilo) in terms of stiffness, and my frame is lighter than a Kilo frame, but not even by that much. I've been riding a Kilo for the past couple of months while my TET (853) was out of commission, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The bottom line is that the Kilo is a nice frame, especially for the $170 cc got his for. Not to mention the fact that there were so many posts in the other Kilo thread that they had to start a new one... that should be a testament to how solid a bike the Kilo is.

zoncolan? i keep slipping forward out of the pocket and can't seem to get the angle right. i like it, it's supportive and comfy but only when you're on it right and i think the shape just doesn't keep me on it right.

i've got the turbo back on now.

I have a stock Kilo TT I just bought off BikesDirect a couple weeks ago and thinking about trying bullhorn handle bars. Would these be good with the stock stem? http://www.amazon.com/Origin-8-Bullhorn-Pursuit-Handle-White/dp/B002I7IBGI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300939455&sr=8-1

Also this chain will fit, correct? http://www.amazon.com/KMC-Z410-Bicycle-1-Speed-8-Inch/dp/B001RPU3P4/ref=pd_sim_sg_4

Both of those should be fine, but for the love of god don't get a green or pink chain. And if you don't mind spending a little bit more you'd probably get a lot more.

There are many options for BBs that fit the Sugino 75s. I use a Shimano UN54, but many will not recommend it because the UN54 is JIS taper and 75s are ISO taper. The Protype BB is looks affordable:

Or for NJS bling:

Right on...thanks! Ours are cheaper simply because we like to keep prices down (and the pile of dead baby pandas is getting out of control).

I'd recommend using something ISO over using a UN54. If you end up wanting to go with the 75 BB, let me know and I'll get one for you at a decent price. We don't keep them in stock but I can easily get them from our distributor. Personally, I'd rather use the Protype BB because it's cartridge.

03-24-11, 11:13 AM
Scrod - Do you know if I will experience issues if I go from a Shimano UN54 to an ISO (I'm thinking Protype) BB? E.g. do I need to stick with JIS now that I've used JIS?

Planning ahead for when this Shimano craps out...
