Hello everyone, I am planning a trip down the Cherry Creek path and am seeking some advice. I want to ride the path from Stroh Ranch Park up to the Cherry Creek Reservoir where I'd like to camp for the night. I have three questions:

1. What is a straightforward route around the closure at Arapahoe road (if it's still closed there)?

2. How much do you have to pay to get into the park on a bike?

3. How much is a tent camping spot at the park, and can you recommend an area?

The last two questions I can call the park to ask, but thought I might as well ask here.

My entire trip will be from Castle Rock over Crowfoot Valley Rd to Stroh Ranch and down Cherry Creek. I plan on taking this trip as a "shake down" of my touring setup. I've only ridden on the path, and that was a awhile ago and it dead-ended well south of Cherry Creek Reservoir. Thanks for any helpful advice you can offer! I plan to take the trip April 2nd.

1. From the south, the path continues to within a block of Arapahoe now. Go W on Arapahoe to Jordan, N to Caley, E 1/8 mi to bike path on left.
2. $0

If you want to avoid riding on Arapahoe (understandable), you can (temporarily?) cross from Cornerstar Way to Helena St (then Caley, Fair Pl, Fraser, Maplewood). Arapahoe to Jordan is a lot easier to remember though.

I can't wait until the path is continuous from Confluence to Castlewood Canyon, other than the Arapahoe Rd situation it goes all the way to Franktown though it's not paved in the last parts.

There is a wooden bridge on the CC Trail at the very south end of the soccer field parking lot on the new portion of the CC Trail. Go west through the soccer field parking lot to the south side, cross the bridge (forget all the no-trespassing signs, etc.) and go on the grass to the shacks on the west side of the field. That parking lot will exit onto Fremont, which takes you to Jordan, which puts you about 5 blocks from Arapahoe and Jordan. This is all rideable.

Go north (on the sidewalk, if you like), and you will quickly arrive at Arapahoe and Jordan, cross Arapahoe, continue on JOrdan to Caley (CC Trail sign there) go about 1 block east and the trail continues on your left - 2 miles to the park road.

Thanks for the info everyone, Fenny: I took your route around Arapahoe and it worked out well, (although the smell from the burger and bbq places made me very hungry!). It will be great when they finish the trail.

I posted an account of my trip over at the touring forum: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/724956-My-first-short-tour
