So I just got a friends old, Cannondale Jekyll with head shock. Its in pretty nice shape except the rear shock (Float RC) is pretty much gone. I know I can send it to Push for a rebuild, and that only being $150 seems worth it for getting this bike up and running.

My question, though, is can I lock out the shock for now and still ride it until I get the cash to send out the shock. Or am I gonna ruin the frame or make the shock worse?

Another question, are there any other shocks that fit this old frame, or is the Push rebuild my only/ cheapest option?

You might like a Push'd Float RC better; but you can still get a Risse Genesis for it for $198:

Can you run the shock locked out? Yeah, but you'll essentially have a hard tail with the rough ride. I wouldn't ride the bike on rough trails though.

Other option other than Push: dirtlabs can rebuild the shock as can hippietech. Also check out Cane Creek and see if they have a Cloud Nine application for your bike.
