why hello there.

i want to take off my sram omniums to put on another build.....
soooo there is a 8mm bolt to unscrew, then a gigantic 16mm cap thingie???
i have an 8mm hex no prob, but 16mm no way.

I unscrewed the 8mm just a small amount, then i think it starts to bump up against the 16mm cap thing and stops. How do i take this 16mm off? buy a hard to find 16mm hex wrench? or?

...or maybe it dosn't need to come off?? i didn't think of that one....
hmm.

should i just put some muscle on the 8mm so that it gets pushed off the splines?

i installed it fine but im babying it in terms of removal since it was so pricey....any help is appreciated!

yes try putting some muscle behind it , the 16mm cap is part of the crankarm removing system. as the 8mm bolt pushes against the 16 mm cap it pull the arm off the BB .

thats what i was starting to think but initially, since i have never taken them off before, i didn't want to muscle up on something without being sure i wasn't going to damage anything. thanks!

The 8/16 is a self extracting system. The only reason you'd need to even touch the 16 is if it's unscrewing itself when you're trying to undo the 8mm bolt or it's damaged.
