Does anybody know if the Benottos made in Mexico have the Italian threading or the English threading for the bottom bracket?

Either is possible.

Your best bet is to first remove the left cup which has right hand threads either way. Then check it's thread with a caliper. It'll be 1.370, (34.8mm) or 36mm (1.41mm) for British (ISO) or Italian respectively. Knowing that will tell you which way to turn the right cup, British is left thread and removes clockwise, Italian is RH.

Measuring the shell width 70 vs 68 should also give you a real good indication. As are any markings on the cup themselves from 36x24 to IT/ITA etc.
