Bicycle Mechanics - Anybody run a 1:1 actuation ratio rear derailluer with a dt/barcon friction shifter?

I'm considering getting a SRAM X9 derailleur for a touring build, but the 1:1 actuation ratio concerns me.

I've read in other posts that the derailleur might not be able to move through the entire cassette with a friction shifter. Has anybody successfully run a set-up like this?

If it is a concern, I'll go with a Deore XT , but I'd like to get SRAM a try if it's an option.

Question is WHY? 1:1 stuff is MTB is it not? adopting a brake cable travel multiplier,
aka travel agent may be a kludge.

As is adopting trekking bars so you can use the whole SRAM MTB set.

the more likely to work is the latter ..

Regarding 1:1 cable pull ratio for SRAM mtb and road groups, no, 1:1 is not just for their mtb components. From the SRAM website: "When we launched our road technology from scratch we reapplied our MTB proven SRAM 1:1 actuation ratio (shifter cable travel : derailleur movement) for 10 speed rear shifting."

To the OP, sorry, I can't answer your question, I've never used a friction shifter with a SRAM 1:1 rear derailleur.

There's been a couple people who have done this on the Bentrideronline forum. It requires a Travel Agent to get enough cable pull and you'll have to use friction shifting (no indexing), but it's do-able.

If you're thinking bar-ends or thumbies, either of the TT shifters will suffice. Pauls has the thumbie mounts. I haven't seen any downtube fitments yet.

True Friction shifters like Sachs Huret are "dumb". That is they have no notion about indexing or ratios. Just pull or push and they should work cause all they do is tighten or slacken the tension on the rear d spring. I have never run a setup like sram, but my LBS guy tells me that I can frankenbike my bike with a campy rear and a shimaNO front.
