White Mountain 100 with bikers and skiers competing is over. Appropriately it is called an endurance event and runs over snowmachine trails. Field was 65 cyclists, skiers and runners. The winner was a cyclist and averaged 9mph. The next two finishers were hot on his heels, wheels?, and also were cyclists. Fourth place was the second place finisher's wife, also riding a bike. Top skier finished fifth. All according to the newspaper account.

Bunch of tough folks, eh?

I rode the White Mountain Double Century last year, and I can't imagine anyone racing down that thing. Very tough yes, but also very brave and talented cyclists and skiers!

Long way from the summit to Hwy 395!

Are you sure you are in the correct State? This competition is Alaskan Wilderness Travel.

The newspaper story tells almost all about this endurance competition. Just to add that competitors ranged in age from college age to late 60's. There will be another competition next year. Some of you who are tired of the same old same old ought to give it a try.

That's pretty impressive given the conditions.
