Foo - Welcoming a new cyclist to the family!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Our first child was born on Friday March 25th at 8:38PM. My wife's obstetrician had scheduled an appointment with us for 11 AM on March 25th because she had started to have high-ish blood pressure and he was worried she might be at the early stages of pre-eclampsia. During the visit he determined that my wife was in the early stages of labour, and sent us home to get our things. We arrived at the hospital at about 1:30 PM, and our baby was born 7 hours later- all six pounds nine ounces of her- Frankie.
Welcome to the World, Frankie. Now let's have a chat about that Specialized Tarmac you've been eyeing! :)
POIDH :D Congrats on the new bundle!

Now, since you won't have time to ever ride again, send me your bike. ;)

The Tarmac is indeed nice, but I want the old school Allez steel model, or truth be told, I really want a 24 or 26" BMX bike to bang around on with the boys. Now that would be COOLLLLL!
oh, and congrats on the kid thing, that is pretty cool too, i guess....

Forget the Tarmac. Lets start her right. She needs Ti.
Welcome to the world, little Frankie!

You guys timed it right, she's a Canuck not one of those southerners types, congratsulations on the new boss of your life. Now go out and buy a Timmies and maybe you'll win her a new car or yourself a new bike.

Hahaha, thank you! I appreciate the offer to send you my bike, it's very generous of you. I'll let you know! ;)

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting something like that when she gets a little older- and then one of those baby bike seats to attach to the bike rack.
Congratulations!
Thanks for the balloon! :)

I bought a Giant TCR Advanced 2 back in December that I haven't had a chance to ride on yet. I really wanted a Tarmac but I got $800 off the Giant, and I was having a hard time getting $200 off of the Tarmac. Then, of course- as soon as we move the store I was going to buy the Tarmac from goes and puts it on sale at a price I would've happily paid. Oh well! :)
Thanks for the congrats! :)

Hahaha- Daddy needs a new car before lil' Frankie is getting any Ti! Our 2000 Pontiac Sunfire isn't getting any larger or any younger. It's going to be hard to fit the baby, the dog, and the wife in the car!
congrats!

We really like the US, and there would've been a lot of advantages (for her) being born in the US- dual citizenship for one. Plus, our medical insurance is from my previous employer, and they only cover 70% of out of network medical expenses after paying $2000 out of pocket. If baby had've been born in the US, we wouldn't be getting any bills. As it stands, we're going to have to pay the obstetrician and the hospital, then take those bills and submit them to the insurance company, and cross our fingers. The baby is covered under MSP since she was born here, my wife isn't (this, despite the fact we're both Canadian citizens, and both former residents of BC). Oh well! :) It's all worth it- I'm always reminded of that at 3AM when she wakes up screaming! Heheh
