I am not well informed on Tendem Bikes as I have never sold/bought one before. Anyway, I ended up with this one and I am trying to figure out how much to sell it for "as is" or if it would be worth the money/time to flip?

So what do you guys think it would go for "as is" vs reconditioned/rideable?

Personally, I wouldn't bother fixing it and then trying to sell it. From your pictures, it looks like everything is rusted so badly that a lot of things will need replaced or a lot of work. Personally, I don't see it as being worth much, but it may be to the right buyer. I never saw the point of collecting vintage bikes though. Others may be able to offer a better idea of that. Just my $0.02.

Depends on how much time you want to spend refurbishing it. Mine was worse than that when I got it and I love working on stuff like this so I refurbished it. I completely disassembled everything and hand cleaned or polished each bit. I had to replace the bars, seats and posts, fenders and wheels, but the rest is what came with the bike. It looks like this now. Have no idea how much it's worth - but probably not anything near what I spent on it. My wife and I dig cruising on it to the farmers market etc.

Wow... Amazing bike. I certainly don't plan to do that much to it. I may just list it on CL for $125 and see if I get any interest.

Yeah - took a long time to source all the period correct parts. Our tandem is also quite rare - it's a Bicycle Built for Two as opposed to the Twinn which you have - the difference being the top tube for the captain. It was only made for two years and came in blue or red.

I'd just sell it for what someone is willing to pay - unless you want to do what I did and I wouldn't recommend that to anyone who is sane :)

I have never been called sane, but I have also never ridden or bought a tandem before. There is a first for everything I guess.

Hmm... wonder if I could make it into a cargo bike?

Don't fix it.
Take whatever you can get for it.
You'd have to pay me to haul it away . . .

We bought a used Schwinn Twin last year in Ohio for our wedding getaway vehicle. Ones in "good, used condition" generally sell on eBay for $200-$250 with local pickup. We paid about $200 for the red and white one in the photo. It had some minor rust on the chrome, a couple missing spokes, and we bought new tires. Probably spent about 10 hours in improvements.

We enjoy riding it in community events (Art Bikes at the Cherry Festival), lending it to friends (especially with kids), and feel we've gotten our money's worth out of it.
