Mountain Biking - ToP Complete - at least ghetto style anyways

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I call it ghetto because it isn't true SS yet. This way I get to play with gearing until I can find out what I like. I also need to know if I want the hadley for my djer/urban or save it for later. Anyways pics

Seatpost too high for ya ;)
Anyways first ride report...AWESOME. finally a small bike that fits an adult. Long tt and short seat tube. This bike was so good for djing. I was nailing the jumps I could never hit well (casing them)...anyways I am stoked...this was a fun first bike I built from the ground up.I think I found my gearing too.

YEah...I have a short seatpost...for djing..thats just bent and can't go any further. For djing I use the baby post...for riding trails etc...thats my post...I still can't get full leg extension...
BTW...kudos to all sspeeders...what a workout...I could ride most things but way more workout...I definately plan to keep this ss...

Yeah, ive had some bad falls with this one, and it just leaves scratches on my seat. You'd think getting caught by tape at 20+mph, flipped, and smashed onto a bunch of large boulders might scrape it up a bit?

Cute bike, can't say I'm too thrilled with the front Der.
You still need TWO chainrings?
Maelstrom
10-28-04, 09:47 AM
Nope...I don't have a spare chainguide, so I am using a middle deraileur to hold the chain in place. Notice no cables or shifters...;)
Told ya it was ghetto.

O.k...should have noticed.
What do you think of the Truvativ Hussefelt box guide?

Or do you have a tried\true dual guide\tensioner that you can recommend?
I'm gonna get one of these I think.

Hey, and you might know- who makes the inverted suspension forks?
Maelstrom

Nice frame. That was one I was considering but I got this cheap. What I can tell you about 243 is it is STRONG. My buddy rode it full time in whistler. Put in almot 50 days up the mountain on that bike. Broke a set of profiles before the frame ;)
I love evil. Light, strong, the bashgaurd is amazing and the system holds up well. The box guide is ok. My cousin uses it and it makes a tonne of noise from that top portion. It seems finicky at first but you can make it so it only make noise in the 9th and 1st gears. (when chain line is most extreme)
Manitou has one. Mazocchi used to make a sc version but I am not sure if it is still available. Avalanch makes one. Past that, it will be all 3rd teir companies...and usually heavy price tags.

Yeah inverted forks are nutty pricing. For the bike you are looking you might be best to look for an 02 or 03 Marzocchi Shiver.

Did you get it non-ghetto yet?
Cool looking frame, I like those. How much was the total cost?
Maelstrom
12-07-04, 05:28 PM
Well I got the frame free...
I was debating what to do. But now am building a surly hub onto a 36 hole rim and keeping the hadley for dh. Total build will be 400$ after the wheel (cdn)
