Mountain Biking - Beefing up my P1

I picked up a P1 recently and after reading up on it I've decided to get some stronger forks and wheels. I'd like to build it more towards dirt jumping but still be able to ride off of stuff and jump things. Downhill ability would be nice but I think if I get into that I'll get a full suspension bike. I've read that Mavic 521's and Sun Ringle Mag 30's are solid but should I be looking at other brands too? Also I really like the Julies I currently have but I'll swap those over to an XC frame along with the fork. What other hydraulic brake systems would be good for this? And for the fork I was thinking about a DJ2 but I'm new so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I guess I could make this another topic but could anyone recommend a moderately priced XC frame for me to swap this stuff onto? I'd rather get a high level rigid over a lesser full suspension. It will be for commuting and light trail riding. I was thinking about an older S Works from ebay.

I have a set of D321's(older version of the EX729's), and they are more comparable to the Mag30's than the D521's are. All are great rims, really depends on how much you're willing to spend. If you just want a DJ bike, why not run Mechs? Youre going to be running a SC, so you could kink or rip a hose. If you run Avid mechs......theyre cheap, and no kinking the line. I advise you to stay away from Hayes mechs.

I'll go with mechs then. Are the features in the different DJs worth it? If I get a DJ3 will I most likely want to upgrade later as my skills advance? Because if that's the case I may as well spend more money up front. Or are forks rebuilt and replaced often?

I run D521's, and I've been very happy with them. They've held up to a lot of urban stuff (moderate dropoffs, stairs, etc.) and technical, rocky trails that I have wrecked other wheels on. They're not all that heavy either. I'm sure they would hold up to bigger hits than what I've dished out. I don't have any experience with the Sun rims so I can't comment on those.

I was looking at new rims a while back, only front though. While doing this I talked to a friend who is a state DH champion and huge hucker. He runs D521's front, not sure about rear. He likes them better than D321's as you dont get any pincflats, which he did when he ran 321's. Also he seems to think they are hella strong.

He used to use some weird Canadian wheelsets that were light but strong as hell, but he stopped as he had to get them from Canada and they were really expensive.

I hear dj3s are like more durable vs.s of MZ Races, which are pretty bad. So don't em. I don't think there's a a good (if any) dampening system in there.
