Mountain Biking - I have the pedals

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

They came in today. Got back to my place and threw them on the bike. Then went out to give them a test ride. Entry is a really easier, easier than times believe it or not. They are so comfortable that at times I still thought I had the bmx platforms on it. Exit of the pedal is a breeze as well. Overall, this was a very good decision made. This is one person who won't be going back to times .
I give them my highest possible ranking of five stars.

Ok, these pedals certainly do rock. Get in is a breeze, they can be simply stepped into. Dismounting from the pedals are just a really slight turn of the ankle, and you are out. These pedals are light yet tough.

kona, you can get in them more than just stepping in, when i come out of my eggs i just roll my foot into the pedals and click, im in...and ya they are so easy to get into...those look pretty sweet on your bike too...

Don't need pins when there is a clipless part to it.

are those the m540's? I have the 505's, which don't have the cage at all. I was very tempted to get the 540's but they were like $15 more and I didn't feel like spending quite that much on pedals.

Nope, these put those to shame, these are Crank Brothers Mallet C's.

oops... sorry to insult your wonderful pedals like that. They looked a bit too nice to be the 540's on second glance, but they do kinda look like the 640's which have a metal cage as opposed to the resin cage of the 540's. Anyway, I like those pedals. How much were they?

Those look to have the same mechanism as the eggbeaters... Basically looks like an eggbeater with a platform.

thats what they are. All Crank Bros pedals are the same, eggbeater or eggbeater with platform.

Wish I would have known about them before I got my cheapo 505's :(

Consider getting the mallets and comparing them to the 505's. You can always recoup some of your $$$ on the pair you don't want. I usally have two or three sets of pedals going (not all at the same time, of course ; )

Yeah, I kinda like the idea of having a platform along with the clipless... gives me something more to press on and the ability to not be clipped in if I'm just taking a quick run down the street. Plus I've heard wonderful things about the crank bros' retention mechanism.
