I was riding on a paved bike trail today with my wife and I just had to know "what'l she do ?"
On the tallest chain ring, and smallest rear gear, I hit 18.6 MPH. I think with an easier gearing with faster cadence, I could go faster.
BTW my wife and I were the Only people on the trail, and this was with platform pedals.
So how fast have you taken your Clyde Ride?

I hit 31.8 mph North bound feeder ( Texas City Area) of hwy, 45 flat section with a tail wind.
52-12 gearing. Could have gone to the 11 cog, but one knee was hurting.

Knee pain is why I backed off, I bet you could get reall moving off the old Causeway.
I might try hitting one of the 225 elevated ramps in a shorter gear.

At my fastest, I could just touch 30mph in a full-tilt sprint using my compact crank.
Riding downhill, or with the wind at my back, I can go considerably faster. Best part of my ride down the Pacific Coast was effortlessly pedaling my 52lb touring bike at 25+mph, thanks to a healthy tail-wind...

I've gone a lot faster than I should, did and endo and broke off 2 teeth and skinned my arms and face. I don't try to go that fast any more.

I routinely hit 30mph on my flat commute home, sprinting with traffic from light to light on my 44/18 singlespeed.
I've maxed my brevet bike at 56.something coming down a massive hill.
So far, fastest I've been since returning to the bike from knee surgery? 21MPH on my Fisher HooKooEKoo MTB...

My fastest was on the big downhill at Timberman 70.3 last year, 46 MPH. It was thillifying.

i did 46 on a race last weekend. that is scary as hell. lol especially with 30 other riders around you and all you smell is the burning rubber and brakes.

Going downhill I've hit 41 or 42 and on the flats somewhere around 22 or 23.

On a flat straight 32
On a downhill on my single 46
On a downhill on the tandem 56 without trying. My wife on the back so I didn't try to gain more speed. That was fast enough.
On a downhill on the mountain bike in the dirt 36

On what passes for downhills in North Texas I've done 33.3 (in a pack and coasting otherwise I would have pedaled to see how fast I could get). On a flat straight I've done 27.4 (25 MPH tailwind) and 23.1 (15 MPH headwind).

I hit 53 mph on a short but steep hill on my Cyclocross bike. I can sprint on a flat road up to 31 mph and hold it for about 600 ft.

Fully loaded crossing the country...32.5 for several miles on a flat portion of the Highline in MT thanks to a very strong tailwind. 48.5 descending into Ticonderoga, NY.

If you were in your tallest gear and only doing 18.6 it was probably too big a gear and you would go faster with lower gear faster cadence. I'm going to guess you have MTB type gears so your geared lower than a road bike becaus a cadence of 90 in a 52-11 gear should have you up over 30mph.
32 on The Kemah Bridge.
37 on the Galveston Causeway.
41 on the Baytown Bridge.
In the mid '90s a charity ride (I can't remember the name and can't find the T-shirt) that used the Kemah bridge was the last really good, hard ride I've had before my knee injury. The bridge was right after a rest stop and I bombed up and down it, I've no idea how fast I went, but spun out a 53-12. Mucho affection for that bridge!
Did you ride the Galveston bridge on the Houston-Galveston ride?
Brad
I recall that I've seen 28 mph on the flats on my Long Haul Trucker, but I usually cruise at about 15 to 18 mph. Going downhill I chicken out at about 42 to 45 mph. Any faster than that and I feel like I should be wearing leathers instead of spandex and a jersey.

Usually I can sprint light to light at a little better than 30 when traffic p'sses me off. I can maintain that pace for maybe half a mile. A few years back I wound up doing a personal "sh't and git" on a desolate four-lane hwy under favorable conditions (no traffic and light tailwind) at 20 mph for 10 miles. For some odd reason I can sprint better than I can TT.
All this was on my Tommasini road bike.

I've hit 30 before on level ground with a tailwind and gone faster downhill- maybe 35 or 37 tops.
The real question is how fast on level ground with no wind, but it's just never like that to find out.
My bike has a wide gear range. I don't need my big ring until I hit 30 or so, which means I hardly ever use it.
On the rando ride a while back, one of the highlights was rolling through Files Valley at 28 mph. Level ground with a stiff tailwind.

Fastest ever on downhill was 92.6km/h (I'M Canadian eh!) Fastest ever flat ground was past summer on a shop ride. Doing sprint outs I hit 67.9km/h, it was a blast I was last man in the train and had the honour of all the other guys hard work but we take turns.

Fastest speed on generally flat terrain, about 25mph. I could possibly have gone a bit faster but it was a shared path and I needed to slow down because there were other path users ahead.
Fastest speed with gravity assistance, 37.4mph according to my GPS..
Both speeds clocked on a Specialized Rockhopper Comp.

Flat ground, no wind, I can cruise 18mph or sprint to 25mph. I often go slower.
Downhill, I've hit 47.5mph on my LHT. I've done that once. I need a longer or steeper hill to exceed that.
When I lived farther from work, I averaged 28mph on one trip home due to a massive tailwind. My normal commute average is around 12mph.
On my five-day mini-tour hauling entirely too much gear, I averaged about 9mph with some steep climbs barely keeping the pedals turning at 2.5mph.

39.5 mph on the ride into work this morning (downhill). I just can't seem to spin fast enough to eek out the last 0.5 to break 40.

Keep them coming folks you are giving me goals. I notice there is something VERY satisfying about putting the power down and clicking through the gears, its akin to a sail boat getting trimmed out right and pulling hard with the wind.
Downhill just over 42MPH before I decided to slow myself down. On the flat I hit 30MPH.
Sprint 35+ mph
Downhill 55 mph
Pulls on the flat to 30 mph
Bike on roof rack 80 mph

55 MPH on my road bike
62 MPH on my FS in the dirt... FUN!!!!!!
I can keep a pace of around 22 for a few miles and then I fade, going down hill a high of 33 and then I'll grab a brake yea I'm chicken. I'm old and too heavy to hit the concrete.
I got to 30.5 mph last year on the flat, no wind. I did it going both directions just to see if I could, fun watching cars as you do the speed limit next to them :) Gearing was 50/14. I now have a 48 chainring on my bike so I don't do stupid stuff like that anymore and make my left knee upset at me for months at a time.. Getting ready to throw the 50 back on there, but base miles the 48 helps the stupid that runs through my head sometimes from hurting me.
Not saying it's stupid to do those max efforts. Just that I was stupid for doing them before I was ready. It's very fun to go fast ! Just did a 8.5 mile TT recently, and boy are those tough!

CF Motobecane in the 50/12 probably no idea the cadence.
Road was flat, probably 2mph crosswind, low humidity, 72 degees
'course I was still getting dropped by the 'fast crowd' (one of whom weighs well over 250# and can climb hills like the wind)

35mph while pulling my son in his Burley on flat ground. Got stuck at train tracks and found myself with a lot of cars once the train passed. Adrenaline is a neat motivator sometimes.

32-36 x 2miles on flat with lots of wind, typically 18-22 in group rides.

My Cannondale T bike passed the 95 MPH sideways 'test' on the rear rack of my car. :)
