Lucas's original 1967 student film that inspired Stephen Spielberg.

The 1971 film "THX 1138" released by Warner Bros was a later collaboration effort with Francis Ford Coppola. Warner Bros's CEO didn't like the preview and canned both of them. But stole the film and released it anyway. With 5-minutes cut out that pissed Lucas off to no end. Lucas has re-released the movie as a director's cut with 3-minutes added back in.

I'm still interested in the student film. Has anyone seen it? Have a way to get it somehow?

I recall seeing excerpts of the student film (on PBS?), as well as the later cinema release starring Robert Duvall. I really liked the film, but was so disappointed with his later efforts, which seemed to get progressively worse.

Is the re-release the student version, or the theater release? either way I'd be curious to see it.

P.S.:
Check out Laibach's disturbing Regime of Coincidence (http://youtu.be/Hlw4y8AwTKg), which incorporate audio elements of THX 1138.
