Hybrid Bicycles - Are there any races in michigan or surrounding states that youth can enter?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm 14 and have a love for cycling, I really want to enter a race. I live in northern Michigan but my family does a lot of traveling and will drive long distances. Something I can enter with my trek 7.3 fx hybrid of course. I want to race around 50ish miles. THANKS

This website might be of some help: http://www.mbra.org
You might also look at mountain-bike races over easy terrain. Locally there is a "Tour da Woods" race each year that is 30 miles from Chatham to Munising. Most of that is over old two-track. Some is on gravel road. A very small amount is singletrack, but it's smooth singletrack that is easily within the limits of what your Trek can handle.
I really am not up on the road racing scene in Michigan, but mmba.org is a good source for mountain-biking info.

Ah, just remembered. There is a triathlon in Grand Marais each your that allows three-person teems. Last year I did the bike portion (on a Salsa Fargo!) while my teammates did the swimming and the running. If you find a friend who is a swimmer, and another who is a runner, you could look into a race like that.
