My kids enjoy riding in our Burley trailer however they don't dig on the cover and complain when it's on so we ride without it. They get a bit of dust and sand in the trailer from my rear tire in their face.

Do sunglasses do much to help with keeping the debris out of their eyes?

Pretty sure this is not the answer you are looking for. Some times the parent controls how things are handled. Riding in the trailer means the cover goes down and the seatbelt gets buckled. No negotiating.

Full fenders do the trick.

Indeed sunglasses seem to keep dirt out of my eyes.

You probably also want a fender with a rubber mud flap down low to the asphalt. Not sure if your bike will take this setup.

If the sunglasses don't work you could try some gauze/mesh type material over the trailer.
They can see out great but the dust etc might not be able to get in quite as much as without.
This might need some experimenting with different materials tho.

Gonna check out fender options and make sure they have their glasses when we ride.

Maybe they dig on the wind in their face as much as I do.

They have the option of the cover if it rains. :D

Circling back on this - ended up getting the XL 45mm ez fenders for my bike. Had to cut the back fender short (gonna fashion a bracket at a later time to get the other piece in place) and added a small flap. Not a lot of space for that piece on the front of the back tire but I think some time with a heat gun, dremel, etc I can get it in there to do some blocking. Hoping this will work well enough to block most debris from flinging up.

Doesn't it have a mesh cover? We have had some serious rocks get thrown up so I like the covers on the trailer.

For trail a bikes and front seats we use sunglasses. I really like the ones that have the soft strap that goes around the head. They seem to work better with helmets than standard sun glasses.

It does have a mesh cover.

Pulled our trailer 24 miles yesterday and there was minimal dust in the trailer and on my kid's faces. They can enjoy the open air without a face full of grit so I'm happy as are they.
