BMX - Does anybody have any old school BMX's and actually still ride them

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I don't have anything at the moment (although I'm looking into getting a '94 Boss race frame), but I will be switching out my Odyssey Vandero for a '95 TNT Revolver shortly.

GT Vertigo!!!
I was gutted my dad threw out my Raleigh super Burner, and my bro's Silver Fox, quite well kited out , flat top bars, goose neck seat tube, pegs etc and good old mushroom grips - they still make them ? ; a few years ago to clear garage space - no !
Anyways I bought a SE Mauler a few weeks ago ; sure they're heavier than they used to be ?
Still dirt jumping a 1986 gt performer. I guess that is old school enough? Also just salvaged a hutch prostar from the metal pile at my local dump. Just frame and forks though. pics soon to come.
:)
Didn't want to start a new thread so I will post pics here, if you don't mind!
'87 GT Pro Performer I got roadworthy for a friend of mine. White Skyway coaster-brake wheels went bye bye and were replaced with Haro Heffer 48's from Danscomp. New 42t steel chainring (110 bcd) and Shimano 16t sproket. Kool-Stop Phat brakepads in rear (ft. ones coming soon, didn't order enough, oops!) and new brake cables and housing.

I turned my late 80's Schwinn into a modded trials. My Dia-Compe Pitbull still puts down some good braking, but I've been debating brazing posts onto it.

I have My Hutch Pro Racer from 1983. :-)
I don't think that GT Performer is an 87. I think it is an earlier model. I thought 87's had the double bent S downtube?
although, those do appear to be stickers from an 87 or so.....
to the original poster, I have one skyway tuff I (not II) on a early 90's dyno. I don't ride it though.

I still have my Schwinn Predator that I inherited from my uncle when i was like 10. Its flat grey w/ a one peice crank and also I put on Pitbull and 1999 for the front. That was my first real bike, when I still had no idea how to do anything......good times being a kid.
I also have some sort of Elf racing frame from the mid nineties I think, just a frame nothing else. Its longer though then a regular frame. Someone told me it might be worth something but who knows prob not. Ill just keep it and fix it up one day to give to a nephew or something..
I just pulled out my 80 mongoose from the rafters. I need to rebuild it. Still had the original aluminum mags on it.

I've got a late 80s GT Performer that I'm planning on tricking out into a commuter, with a rack, light and bells and all.

lets see, I have my original race bike from 1983 (Robinson 24"), plus an '83 Nomura cruiser, an '82 GT cruiser, a '80 SE OM Flyer, plus a MINT '84 Haro Master.

If anyone is looking to sell their oldschool bmx or freestyle bikes, PLEASE let me know!
Sicko. I almost bought a Redline at the track last week, just because I don't have one. The missus says no more new bikes until we move back to the states. Then I'll have to get a Skyway equipped Mongoose, a Redline Carrera, and a 600a. Just because.

my freind has a Redline 1980ish expert race frame/fork/stem/bars/seat/post/clamp/cranks/chainwheel/bb that we fixed up with some Skyway Mags and redline grips(reall soft but easily ripped), chain tensioners, bars, and chain..and now he rides it....he found it in his neighbors trash and figure since he was a little guy he could still ride it and so we fixed it up....

I used to have this bmx bike made by some company called Ross. My uncle who is 40 had it as a kid, and I rode it up until a year ago when IT GOT STOLEN! It had these metal pedals that would hurt like hell if your foot slipped off and swung up and hit you in the shin. Anyhow, it was REALLY strong, like a tank. I dunno who on earth would want to steal it, but oh well...
Ross made low-end bikes, but if it lasted that long, it couldn't have been too bad.

I bet some all of my bikes are older than a lot of guys here!
The GT shown is my original GT Performer from 1984. The Haro is an original Master form 1984. This is how we used to do it OLD SCHOOL!

these are first generation Profiles. The 20" is a 98% accurate copy of Eric Rupes NBL #1 winning ride from 1983. If any of you were at Interbike last October in Vegas, you saw it sitting at Profile's booth.
