Hello BFers,
I am working on a book called The Italian Racing Bicycle, which is scheduled for publication in spring of 2012. It's a photo-rich celebration of the most-storied Italian builders and their most artful creations. The photos are to be a mix of studio, outdoor static and of course, the bikes in action. Both classic and modern bikes will be included, but the emphasis will be on the classics.
With spring here (hopefully for good), I am now seeking bikes to photograph for the project. While I have a few leads on some, I want to cast the widest net possible and see what else I can find. I know there are a bunch of nice bikes hidden around this area, this is my first stab at smoking them out. Here is a mostly complete list of classic steel bikes I would like to find locally to shoot:
1. ALAN
2. Atala
3. Basso
4. Benotto
5. Bianchi
6. Bottecchia
7. Casati
8. Chesini
9. Cinelli
10. Ciocc
11. Colnago
12. Daccordi
13. De Rosa
14. Frejus
15. Gios
16. Grandis
17. Guerciotti
18. Legnano
19. Masi
20. F.Moser
21. Olmo
22. Pegoretti
23. Pinarello
24. Pogliaghi
25. Rossin
26. Scapin
27. Somec
28. Tommasini
29. Viner
30. Wilier
31. Zullo
This list is fluid, so some of the builders listed are sure to fall off, while others may be added. So, if you’ve got something not listed that you think should be included, I’d love to hear about it! Road, track and cyclcross are all good.
Shooting each bike will take approximately an hour and will be done at your convenience in various locations around the Cities. The bikes need not be show-quality, but mostly original examples are preferred. It’s a bonus if they can be ridden and you’re willing to pedal it around for me while I take some shots.
Additionally, I am also in search of any rare and unusual promotional items such as lapel pins, water bottles, caps, clothing kit, posters, catalogs, or just about anything that could be photographed for each chapter. I hope to capture the spirit and individual philosophy of each builder through these items.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. This is a big task but one that I can complete with your help. You can reach me at 612/817.5972 or by email at chris@hotridesphoto.com
