Classic & Vintage - headlight mounting bracket

I recently got a Raleigh headlight hanger for my bike,..the type with the Raleigh logo that fits on the handlebar stem. I got a light that I want to mount to it, but cant find the proper bracket. Are there any 'reproductions' being made of this item ?

They are kind of a weird shop and their customer service is a bit...spotty. The owner can be a bit on the moody side and if you catch him on a bad day it can sometimes be a bit strange of an experience.

He has a lot of vintage 3-speed stuff though and at one time even imported and set up the Indian-made Eastman bikes. There are very few shops these days with the old stock of stuff they have so it is worth it to put up with the odd behavior they sometimes exhibit there. Looking at that web site is wild sometimes. It is almost like it is still 1993 and the whole internet is still AOL and/or Compuserve.

Hi, I'd like to see what you made for a clamp. YellowJ emailed that the clamp would be $20 ! , and $8 for shipping, ouch!

I just made this from a 1" conduit hanger,..dont know if this is what you made ?

It works, but the metal should be thicker, I think it will get to a point that it wont tighten anymore..

Nice work.

A headlight bracket is just a couple of bent bits of metal with a hole in them. It doesn't take much to make or modify these. A vise, some metal, a drill, hacksaw or coping saw. Viola!

One of these is a good start -already has a hole in it. Buy a longer one so you have enough metal length to work with.

i need one of those too - I bought an LED repro light that looks great but I just connected it off center with a hardware store bokt and washer

Here is a couple of pics of the 'conduit hanger' before mods. It was a 1" size, I got from the Lows store.

I started by cutting it in half, then worked it from there. Flattining the curved piece with a hammer, etc. I dont even have a bench vice, it was all done on on the floor with a hammer, vicegrips,screwdriver , etc
