Foo - House hunting ... apparently with a psychically intuned individual

So my wife and I have been house hunting for a couple of years now looking for the perfect acreage. There is this place that has 12 acres of largely gorgeous forest with a large open area around the house. It's perfect ... or at least that's what I think. My wife says she's excited about this property, and can imagine living there, however she also has a bad feeling about it that she can't logically explain. She has a feeling that something violent / horrible happened there in the past. We haven't even looked at it yet, however we did drive by it a couple of times. Last night she had a nightmare about this place.

Anyone have any similar experiences? Have any insight on this situation? Have we entered into a paranormal area?

I sell real estate for a living and if your wife has a bad feeling, you should move on and find something else.

Have you ever seen Lisa Williams' "Life Among the Dead (http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/lisa-williams)"? She's checked out houses for people and basically says if you don't feel comfortable there, don't move in.

Have you done a Google search on the address to see if anything has happened there?

Nuke it from orbit, then rebuild.

bring ouija board to place.

I would just say move on and find another place and it's a good idea to do a google search too. :]

I saw that property on the Bravo channel last week. Don't do it.

I get like that when I drive down a road here in Dallas. Chalk Hill Rd. Whether I go down it day or night, I get this cold feeling all over as if something bad happened.
A few years back, I found a historical marker that said that early hispanic settlers had lived in the area and died from some kind of epidemic but the marker has since been removed and some of the area where I get the cold feeling from has now been turned into an industrial area. I googled it but find no information to back up what I still feel.

We tried to google it ... no luck though.

Nuke it from orbit, then rebuild.

Not an option at this time.

Do you consider yourself to be a bit psychic? or is this a once in a lifetime feeling? I'm having a hard time understanding these types of feelings ... I've never had them.

No, I don't think of myself as psychic at all. Which is why I find the feeling I have when on that road so alarming.

This is going to be a great thread. I'm casting my vote for thread of the year right now.

I'm not psychic, but I do have telepathetic powers.

One minute I was sitting on the couch, the next I found myself heading to the refridgerator for another piece of cake :twitchy: How'd you do that???

At my first house, a former owner committed suicide (turned on the gas killing his dog as well in the process, what's THAT about ?) . We found this out after many years in the house and it affected us not at all. My wife gets "feelings" from time to time but this house never gave here negative vibes. The termite swarm every April was what drove us out.

In your case I would absolutely not be buying this house. Gotta go with your instincts.

Blame it on those two-X chromosomers. Either that or there's about to be another Starbucks built across the street.

I would say at least go look at it... but it probably won't matter. My mother-in-law has a similar reaction with the underground parking in Stratford. The only time I went in there with her she had a panic attack saying she couldn't get out when we were facing the exit and I could see the street in front of her. Went to the museum and asked about the building and it used to be the abattoir. Oh and she doesn't go in there any more (and I learned not to talk her into it :) )

Hell with that. The "perfect" house and property that they're both stoked about, and they should walk away because of a dream about ghosts or something?

I had a dream last night that I stopped in at a bike shop (http://www.dublincyclery.com/) and asked the owner about a mousepad, but one of the employees insisted that charities needed the mousepads. Should I take that as a sign that I shouldn't use a mousepad? No! it's just a dream, comprised of various things that had entered my mind over the course of a day.

Mrs. Alfster is probably jittery about the process of buying a house, a task that could drive anyone to drinking, and it manifested itself as a dream. Nothing to worry about. It's just stress.

Wait to pass on the house until some concrete issue shows up. House et up by termites? Pass. ROUSes in the forest? Pass. Built next to an ancient PG&E gas line? Pass. Currently on fire? Pass.

I agree with your overall sentiment, however the bad feeling didn't start with a dream. First time we drove by the place she got a negative feeling, which is strange because it's exactly what we're looking for. I don't think she's nervous about buying a house (this will be our third), nor is it likely financial concerns. Like I said previously she's a very logical person which is why I'm giving this a bit more credence than I would normally.

Having said that, she still wants to check out the place with a realtor. Should be interesting.

There's a portal on that place.
Trust me.
