Alt Bike Culture - rat rod, chopper, and tall bike video & pics

Had some fun last evening at the Sacramento Midtown Cruise. It's part of the monthly Second Saturday art festival. This time there were several tall bikes and a couple choppers present. Plenty of rat bikes too. There was even an antique Indian motorcycle!

Very cool rides. I wish I could participate in a ride like this. The town I live in seems to be more into lowrider bikes, with one or two shows happening a year.

yeah, wish i could do something like this, if i did, i would have to find four other people to ride my other bikes, and that would be it, i'm the only person on a small island of 100,00 people that build anything like this !!!

Next month they're having a bike show too, so that should be interesting;)

Yup. I'm on a trike, so it's easier and safer to ride like that. When I do ride videos on my road or hybrid bikes I use a handlebar mount.

I love all of those bikes! I have a rat rod chopper of my own.

That Indian is a nice replica, but it's not the real thing... look real close, it's a Grubee 2-stroke kit with a fake crankcase underneath it. Still, looks better than anything I could have made!

I didn't use my mount on either of these rides. I used my Casio EX-S12 digital camera in my hand the whole time.

When I do my hill ride videos I use my Kodak Playsport waterproof camera on a Pedco UltraClamp handlebar mount. I bought it here (http://www.baregreen.com/pedco-ultra-clamp.html). I like baregreen.com because they let you choose your preferred shipping method. I always choose USPS because I've had bad luck with FedEx and UPS.

I added ape hangers to my Miele low rider then went for a ride to our park in Savannah. I came across the end of the Confederate Memorial Day service and couldn't resist getting one of the characters to pose on my ride.

I call this photo "Rebel Without a Cause"

Went for a ride yesterday and came across this very cool modified Felt rat rod cruiser. Lots of cool mods on this one.
Solar charged battery pack.
Battery case made from license plate.
Custom laced giant rims spokes and tires. Three speed internal with drum brake.
Custom skateboard rack with special holes to handle all of his locking cables/locks when he is riding.

Here's video of the Sacramento Cyclefest pre-show ride. Lots of cool customs and rat rod bikes, several with on-board sound systems. One guy was towing a trailer with a car stereo system in it with bass!

They actually had riders blocking cross traffic so the whole group could pass. Probably illegal as hell too. I was coming home in my truck when I first saw them. I had the green light, but had to wait until the group passed. Since I had just come back from a hill climbing ride, I had a bike in the back so I parked and chased the group down on my bike.

You'll notice that you don't see me running any stop signs though. ;):p
