Cyclocross - Swap wheel/tire set or dedicated cross bike?

Last year I bought a Fuji Comp cross bike and had the intention of having seperate road and cx tire and wheel sets and just swap them accordingly for what kind of riding I was going to do. Long story short, the road tire/wheel set on my bike now is Campy and requires Campy teeth. The cx tire/wheel set is what came on the bike originally and only works with the stock teeth. I have the road set pretty much dialed in where I like it and I don't want to tamper with it. I am planning on trying out a couple races this fall and figure swapping out teeth every weekend to do both road riding and races might be more of a nuisance than anything. I found an older cross bike for a very cheap price that I figure could be my dedicated race/trail bike and my current bike could stay setup for road riding. Does anyone out there think this is a decent idea or should I just stay with swapping out the teeth between my two wheel/tire sets for the riding I do?

what do you mean by teeth? And why would you have to swap them

@jerlew: Teeth = the gear cassette on the rear wheel, I imagine. Campag isn't compatible with Shimano in this case it seems. (Don't ask me about Shimano/Caampag compatibility.)

@box: Couldn't you remove the Shimano cassette from the incompatible rear wheel and fit a Campagnolo one???

I thought that may have been what he was referring to but how the question was worded threw me off.
I would go with 2 bikes if you don't want to always deal with the nuisance of working on/adjusting your bike. When I get a bike dialed in, I don't like to change anything on it unless I have to. I will also ALWAYS support people getting more bikes, just because.

If you have the space for it.. get a road frame/bike and slap on them campy wheelsets.
Although.. i bet that campy wheelset would fetch a pretty penny. Then you can just get a shimano wheelset/cassette with the proceeds and be done with it..with money to spare...

So your bike is running campagnolo components now, I assume. because otherwise the new road wheelset is worthless to you. Sell the stock wheelset and buy another one if you want. You can also just swap tires when you need to.
