Hey folks--

First off, just wanted to say that as a first time bike-builder, you have all been immensely helpful, which is much appreciated.

That said, I did a search for this website and crankset, but couldn't find anything on it here, so I was wondering opinions or thoughts on its legitimacy:

The cranks certainly appear to be the Sugino RD Messengers, but I can't seem to find any definitive information. If so, this seems to be quite the deal, which would be a huge boon to someone on a tighter budget a la me. Thoughts? If I didn't go with these I would probably end up with the Eighth Inch Crankset.

I'm 99.99999% certain that Sugino doesn't sell unbranded stuff. The only way to tell for sure is by looking at the backs of the arms. They're most likely Driveline cranks - same as Pake, EigthInch, etc, etc.

Ahhh, thanks! Yup--look what I found. Looks suspiciously like the "Sugino OEM," including colors and everything.

Hmmm, I guess Eighth Inch it is then? Seen some Sugino Messengers go for decent prices on eBay, but nothing too great presently. Doh.

No problem. EighthInch are probably the best bang for the buck and come with a nice chainring.

Sugino Drillium (drilled) chainrings just have an "S" and the tooth count on them. Like "S-53".

There are no other stamps or markings on the rings.
