Campy Shift/Brake Lever Compatability

Im in the process of building up a Surly Cross Check and my question is can Campagnolo Daytona brake/shift levers be used with Avid Shorty brakes or brakes of this sort? Ive just got interested in to this whole cyclocross thing and I dont know much about it so any advise is welcome.

Daytona is functionally equivalent to the rest of the Campagnolo line and works fine with Avid Shorty 6
brakes, I've done Centaur with Shorty 6.
