I know there is a commuter forum, but I prefer the company here.

The problem is that I can't concentrate on work while it is a beautiful sunny day outside my window and my bike is all alone downstairs in a storage closet. :(

When I ride my bike, it sits right in front of my desk. I feel your pain.

Amen...I've gone to the worse lunch places because I could get on the bike.

Well there are always "sick days". Sick of being inside.

+1 When I ride my bike is right next to my desk in my office. Today though I didn't feel like contending with a jacket for the ride in, so I drove.. :(

I've always liked George Carlin's concept of "well" days... "Hello boss, just calling in to let you know, I'm too well to come into work today..." :D

I always brought my bike right inside the warehouse. Now I don't have that issue as I don't work at all anymore! lol.

I had the best of both worlds...for a while. I rode a bike to work, locked it up at the rack by security, then walked into the plant and got my plant bike to ride around on during the day while working :D

In case you haven't noticed, there's quite a bit of overlap, both in the actual people and in the attitude.

I got a sunburn on my arms and face yesterday during lunch. I seized the moment and did a 1 hour Tour de Neighborhood.

I'm right there with you, I find myself distracted by thinking about alternate routes home, I love a change of scenery...

Someone on the commuter forum defined work as "the tedious part of the day that comes in between two bike rides."

I can see your point.

I work on the road, or out of my house.
The bike is in the garage, the weather is here and obvious.

Sometimes, a certain member calls, and says "3 o'clock?"
That's when I have those little cartoon guys, one on each shoulder, shouting in my ear.

go play with the commuters. they're a fine bunch. reg. your post - yup - one aspect of bike commuting is looking forward to the ride home all day long.

I'm actually considering that in the near future.... 4 days of rain and tomorrow's going to be beautiful

I took a well day on Monday, though it's unclear that anyone noticed. Yesterday I got drenched on the way home... no biggie, changed when I got there. This morning I got pretty soaked just riding from Penn Station to my office; not so nice. That, to me, is the major pitfall of bike commuting. Well, I should be dry by the time I leave this afternoon....

Too much temptation for me :twitchy:

I feel your pain. I would love to ride a bike to work but 65+ miles is a bit much for an everyday commute. That, and riding through not so nice parts of town.....

I hear you. I use any excuse to hop on the bike, meetings, appointments, errands on the other side of campus. Heck, if I need to go across the street I'll jump on the bike.
I gave up my campus parking 3 years ago so I could ride every day. To much snow, put on the x-country skies. It's an addiction!!

I did notice there is some overlap, but here there has been a subforum created for the "what is it worth threads", while i haven't seen a "how do you clean up when you get to work" subforum spun off the commuter forum :D

I haven't rode in a couple of weeks as I have been busy, and I'm getting extremely tired of looking out this window and seeing perfect riding weather.

I am regretting my current job change...drove 4 hours today, sitting here in a hotel in Lynchburg, VA wishing I had a bike...

Time to buy a BROMPTON n+1 here I come :D

It was a cold, wet, soaking rain on my commute today. Fortunately, I was wearing rain pants and jacket and could park my bike in a rack area with a ceiling. C&V content: I was on my 70s St. Etienne porteur.

Neal--I salute you; today was a pretty ugly day for biking. I did think about it, but I left my bike outside last night and the saddle was soaked, plus I know from experience that my rod brakes are useless in the rain (there's my C & V content). Yesterday was beautiful though--I had a nice lunchtime ride over to your neck of the woods to go to Cutty's!

I wasn't concerned until I saw some older guy loading up an ark, two by two.

I envy all of you. The only "biking" I did was in my while riding an airplane from Boston to Chicago.
