Ok, up until now I have been saving money to (i will have $1200 in December) get a new bike to replace my used rigid 90's Specialized Hardrock sport.
I just found a 99' Trek 8900 (http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Bike_hardtail/product_19640.shtml) on a police auction site, here are the details...

-------------------------------------------------------------
Frame Size: 18"
Frame Material: carbon fiber
Number of Speeds: 21
Gears: suntour
Corrosion severity/location: none visible
Additional Features: 2 water bottle holders, front shocks ,3 piece cranks , bar ends,
Description of Physical Condition: frame, forks and handle bars have nicks and scratches, both derailleurs do not shift, seat torn, wheels are slightly bent
Condition: Fair

Do ya guys think I should try for it, I was thinking of maby putting like 5 or 6 hundred for my bid, and if I win a few more to fix it.
I know that you take a risk buying CF used, but its it is a nice XC bike and nice light XC bikes don't come cheep. Thanks, X-ZEN

That would be a trek 8900....and that site rules. They had a Yeti Kokopelli a few months ago for like $700...with discs.
