Does anyone have any experience with these. I have an opportunity to buy a 1974-75ish Raleigh Super Tourer in good condition. No rust. Brooks Saddle in good shape. With a pump.
$100.
Worth it?

Everything is in surprisingly good condition. It needs a good cleaning. The headset sticks a little on sharp turns. The derailleurs need some work and the saddle is a little loose. Other than that, its great.
Here's one more question:
Is is reasonable to use this bike as a sometimes commuter? I have a fixed gear that I normally commute with but there are some days I'd love some gear choices and a more comfortable upright position. Am I crazy to risk beating this up more for a commute?

commute on it. Even though it's in great preserved condition, it's not super rare or valuable, and it wants to be ridden!

Heck, you could probably get most of the cost back just by selling that beautiful saddle. Overall, looks like you got a great bike.

I'm envious! As green as the bike. Seriously, what a nice find. Love her and treat her well.

Love the bike. :)
Looks like a 75' or 76' based on that only the 74's had brazed on pump fittings under the top tube and a "mattress" style seat.
You can better date it with the serial number from info found here...

Did you remove the fenders or is that the way you got it?
I just picked up a 74' ST myself.
