Northeast - 1000+ft climb closest to Philadelphia?

I can choose from a bunch of 300-500 ft climbs within a few miles of Philly; wondering where the closest 1000+ft vertical climb is? I presume somewhere in the lower poconos, maybe the ridge just north of Allentown, although I couldn't find anything on a brief look at Google terrain.

Looking for something steady uphill, 5-10% average grade, moderately sane road.

It's hard to find gradients like you're looking for in the East. For 1000' vert. gain the gradient will be pretty steep. You need to move to the Rockies, like I did. ;)

+1 on Ken's site. Do the Fiddlers Elbow group. Hunterdon & Warren Counties are beautiful and many roads have litle or no traffic. a/k/a The Jersey Alps.

And look at njbikemap.com to see the vert for ALL hills in NJ and into PA. We've got some brilliant resources - and roads - in the NJ area.

And I see that njbikemap ONLY lists the SR 191 climb as 680 ft. I've got data that says 1,000 (twice) and I'm sticking to it. Old Mine Rd. in the Del. Water Gap NRA is a good climb, but a better descent. I've hit 55 mph on the descent. Well, that's when I hit the brakes anyway.

It's probably "only" about 700 ft but Shed Road in French Creek State Park is a very nice climb. It's about 2.5 miles long and not especially steep, maybe about 8% or so.

The suspense is killing me.... but noting that you're listed as "Malvern" note that I go up Cedar Hollow Road to Paoli Amtrak every day, so that' my "usual" daily 315 ft climb for benchmark difficulty and length.
