Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Longer pedals?

I ride SS with platform pedals. No straps or clipless shoes. The pedals that came with my Madison seem a little short, so the outsides of my feet kind of hang over the ends quite a bit. This gets very uncomfortable on 20+ mile rides.

Are there any good platform pedals out there that are longer so I can comfortably fit the entire width of my foot on the pedals?

Those actually aren't any longer than standard Sylvans when you take into account that your shoe is supposed to bit between the outer and inner 'hook' on the top of the pedal. I tried them for a bit (because I love how they look) but found my size 12s a little too big for them and that those 'hooks' dug into the bottoms of my feet - making them even less comfortable.

MKS AR-2 is supposed to be good for wider feet if you don't want to go the BMX route:

Even if you don't want to go clipless, you might want to get some cycling shoes. A good stiff sole should keep any part of your foot from feeling like it's hanging off the edge.

They're Crank Brothers 5050. They measure 3 5/8" wide, definitely wider than my stock platforms.

I'm looking for "length" as in side to side, not front to back. I have wide feet, so my feet hang off of the edges. I want to comfortably fit the entire width of my foot on the pedal.

Any big BMX pedal should do the trick. Go get some, like, 20 dollar demolitions and you'll be good to go.

Bullet Proof BMX or whatever they are called. At 12 4E, my foot only hangs off a little bit.

Not a pedal you would want to go riding without shoes in.

I'm a shoe size 12 as well, and the Sylvans are comfortable for me.

I find the standard Sylvan Track pedals more comfortable than the Sylvan Road version hairnet posted.

I actually don't like any of those types of pedals. There isn't enough of a platform for me if I ride in normal shoes.

I use an older version of shimano's RT31 road shoe sans cleat for the sylvans with the mks toe clips. The combo is very good for me.

I like the retro look and Sheldon's website says they're the longest "from the arm" pedals, even longer than AR2.

I may want to start using some straps If I get more pedaling power while using them (power upstroke). I'm really interested in these types of straps that don't require a toe cage:

I was just going to suggest "rat trap" style retro pedals. I might pick up a pair of Sylvans for myself.

Biggest platforms out there (much bigger than the sylvan or rat traps) are the MKS lambda. Tioga spyders are almost as big, but they're a fair amount lighter.

The Grip Kings are nice pedals, but while they're plenty long front-to-back, they're actually fairly narrow side-to-side.

The contact area is so big on the grip kings that the width becomes a non-issue. The force from pushing on the pedal is better distributed.

It would be an issue for me. I hate the feeling of my 5th metatarsals of both feet hanging over the edge and getting squished down into the sides during hard pedaling.

I disagree. I have these grip kings because they looked promising, but my feet tilt outward due to lack of side support. An excellent platform pedal that I now use on 3 bikes are Nashbar cruisers:

To be specific, for comparison purposes, the black platform area is 4" wide (the issue of interest for the OP), and 4.5" long.
