Hi guys,
I'm preparing a new build with a Rohloff and have a question. I currently run 42/16 chain drive which is a 2.63 ratio. My question is if you keep the exact ratio, is there any reason to scale up or down the chainring and sprocket sizes? I don't plan to violate the minimum ratio of 2.35 suggested by Rohloff. The new drivetrain will be Gates centertrack belt.
Thanks for your input,
Thorsten

Ignorant about the belt drive other than you have to open the frame to get it in.

Run a 26" wheel and a 38/16. , just got #2 bike , 406 wheel 53/15 ..

what are the Belt cogwheel combination options?

With a chain, if it doesn't have to make a tight turn on the sprocket, the chain is supposed to last longer. So a larger cog is better than a small one.

I agree with Jeepr. I always prefer the solution that lasts longer. The cogs should last longer too.
