Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - How far can you go customizing a kilo tt ?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I've been looking into getting my first fixed gear , and it seems the kilo tt is the most popular. I have been looking at the eighth inch scrambler because when ordering you can customize it to what fits you and I like how I can choose my colors but its at like a 500+ price. However the kilo tt being a popular bike doesn't seem to have that many colors. I've ridden many fixies since and my brother has one, but he got his for 500+ customized for him and we ride the same size 53cm. A kilo tt seems to be a way cheaper bike that fits up to the standards and im currently looking on bikesdirect and they have these OK colors for frames and that will do but how far can i go changing the rims and wheels to different colors and changing out the bars to like riser bars with some different color grips? CAn i just get those online and switch them up to suit me? Or is there like a kilo tt that has already been customized I could get?

Absolutely not. You're not allowed to customize your own bike with parts from the internet.

If there's a kilo tt already customized, it probably won't be the way you want it anyway. Search used if you want one that isn't stock.

There's no customization option for it. As far as wheels go, you could either build your own or go to http://www.prowheelbuilder.com/
They offer you a wide variety of colors for rims. Riser bars you might have a problem finding a 1" stem that will fit riser bars (unless you use bmx bars but, they would be best left to a pursuit bike). Try to find a bike with a 1 1/8th" steerer tube compatibility.

You can change parts to different parts, yes.

Shim and use 1 1/8th stem...no big........Kilo's are the best thing for the price 1" steerer shouldn't deter you. Neither should color options. You can Tarck the **** out of a Kilo with all the cool colors. But You'll get made fun of on here for doing so. Get a Kilo. Ride it. Upgrade to better (not more colorful) parts. Unless you really want colorful stuff....dont go crazy with it and get nice stuff.

I think quality of the bike should be FARRRRRRRRRRR more important than the colors.

agreed....oh and eighthinch isn't bad if you build just a frame......but tarcked out Scrambler will be more expensive but not as nice or fast as a kilo ....kilos are prettier too imo................GET A PURPLE KILO .....get some Velocity Deep V's if you Must.......red b43's are nice with the purple (seen it in person)...dont be a dumbass and get green ones though (no weinnmans either)

Dear OP, take a look at cc700's bike. It does not look crazy with a bunch of stupid colors. It looks clean and well built. I'm sure he spent a lot more than 500 on it but it started out at as a Kilo TT. Buy a bike. Ride the bike. Build it over time and make it your own.

it started out at as a Kilo TT.

then it underwent some minor procedures to become a serpent.

Kilos are excellent bikes for the money. You can take the money you save by going with a Kilo over a Scrambler and buy yourself a pretty wheelset.

Eighth Inch can build up a bike for you. Both are good frames.

But check out the Kilo thread and inspire yourself. I don't think a fully built Kilo can be worth more than $700 msrp, give or take

You can literally change every part on your bike to what you would like.

How is that for customization?

I saw a purple kilo with green rims and gold hubs... I thought it looked amazing. Purple and green are one of my favorite colors to match, don't tell someone they are inferior because they like a color you don't.

All I was really thinking of doing is getting the whole complete kilo on bikes direct than the least I'd do after riding it would be getting a different wheel set and maybe different bars. Unless it would be better building one myself. But it seems a kilo itself would be best

Why does it seem like the bottom part of the frame on a kilo tt is thicker but on that purple one it doesn't seem thicker?

Idk. Eyes? Picture? The Eighth Inch Scrambler doesn't have the fender mounts and the fork doesn't look like that.
