I found a Mercier Kilo TT bike in a dumpster (had a section cut out of it's top tube), I've salvaged a few parts from it (Bottom bracket, chain ring, crank set, handlebars, headset, headset spacers) and I'm looking to buy a new frame and use the parts I salvaged to build a new single speed. I'm wondering about opinions on different frames that I could buy. I'm looking for a cheep frame, but would be willing to spend more if the quality is worth it. Here are the frames I'm looking at:

-Pake Rum Runner
-IRO Mark V
-Eighth Inch Scrambler V3
-Surly Steamroller

I'd like a frame that could accommodate a cyclocross fork to use a disk brake. I already know what I can use, and what I can't. What are your opinions on those frames?

Scramblers are solid for the price. 4130 frame indestructable and I fit 38mm tires in the rear of mine with little trouble. Same with Steamroller. Steamroller isn't much lighter but has steeper more track like geometry. But for what you wanna do a scrambler would be great. I hear Pake's are pretty indestructable too. Just get a set of wheels and you're good.

I see you're also from Chicago. There's a guy I see around sometimes with a purple Mercier KiloTT he has a disc brake on the front of it. Looks kinda cool....fork is green.

Oh and you could put a cyclocross fork on any of these bikes, I had one on my scrambler for a while.
