Hello All, I'm new to the forums, although I've been trolling for quite some time.

I am thinking of picking up a used IRO Mark V complete that a friend is selling, and was wondering if his asking price was on par with the actual value of the bike.

The bike was a custom built single speed and has an IRO Mark V frame, Suigino crank, SRAM stem, cane creek headset, carbon flat bars, and velocity wheels. It looks to be in pretty good condition.

I believe the frame was bought in 2009, although I do not think that this particular model has changed much (if at all) over the years.

I think he wants $390 for it. I know that just earlier this year, you could pick up an IRO Angus complete for $399 brand new. Anyone know what a fair market value for something like this would be?

Thanks for all of the help!

offer $300, cash, waving it in his face(not in a dickish way, think enticing) as long as it fits you.

That's the thing, I'm like 5'9 and this is a 56 size frame. The bike I'm currently riding is a 55--so I think size wise, it is a good fit.

Alright, i'll offer him $300, and do a little wave and see what he thinks.

Any other thoughts, in general on this bike?

It's alot more bike for the money compared to buying new. Just make sure the frame fits right, don't just buy it cause the deal is there.

What do you think something like this would go for new?

ended up throwing down $250.. This thing had some pretty awesome pieces on it too. Velocity Deep V wheel set, vintage sugino crank..

I think between those three parts i've got more value than the $250 investment.

thanks for the advice with this one.

Sounds like you got a good deal. Post a picture when you get a chance! I'd like to see it.

I'm new to bikes, but I'm definitely NOT new to wheeling-n-dealing on Craigslist, etc.

Low-ball people. Seriously.

We are a "Right Now" society, and people will routinely let things go for WAY cheaper than their asking price if they can get the cash in-hand ASAP.

I've been surfing CR for a used SS the past week - I talked two people down from $550 to like $300 without much effort before I realized I'm a ****** and the bikes were too big anyway:innocent:

Looks like you got a great deal though, congrats.
