I've been having a blast riding my Moto Track. I think I'm getting used to not coasting. I even put my clipless on and rode a few miles. Now I want to experiment with chopped risers. My LBS has some Easton MTB risers for like $30 new. I thought about buying a pair and cutting them down and putting some oury grips on. I just want to try it out. I also want to try some bullhorns eventually. How does my idea sound? I know I can order some Soma Late Risers for $49 but I want to mess around with some cheap ones first.

Have your LBS order you some Dimension 40mm risers. They come in silver and black and will cost you under 15 bucks.

Or - order them online:

I like riser bar for my short commute ride(14 miles). It's so much fun, maybe it just that feeling of riding my BMX when I was young. Just shop around I got one for 14.99.

Ok. I see Jenson USA has lots of sizes. I'd get the 45mm right?

Easton bars are nice and they are a little long both low rise an high rise, about 1" and 2" rise with the same bend I think.

Ok thanks. Im going to try and find the Dimensions locally. Question, when you chop them how much do you cut? I don't want it super small like I've seen on some sites.

See what's comfortable for you measure twice cut once

Yeah...go with 45mm. The Easton bars are nice but a little pricey for something you may not end up liking.

I usually cut my risers so my arms are nice and straight (parallel to each other).

Got my Dimension Risers in today from eBikes. Pretty fast shipping. I'm kinda on the fence about the 24 degree bend. I thought most guys had straight risers. Did I mess up ordering one with a bend?

I definitely prefer risers with a decent amount of back sweep. Straight risers aren't very wrist friendly.

Ok so 24 degrees of back sweep isn't bad? I want to cut them down a tad and put my ourys on.

Got my bars cut and grips finally mounted. I like my first attempt. Too bad we have rain scheduled here for the next 4 days straight:mad::twitchy:
