I wonder if there is any clarification as to what the actual directives are being trickled down from top brass in ny's finest?

Apparently bystander goes in for witnessing cops giving a bike rider a ticket, bystander asks cops why are you doing that he's just riding his bike lol

I'm not creating these threads or posting these things to incite an uproar of rebellion, cops are doing the jobs they need to do but where does the line get drawn?

And frankly, I know how I ride my bike and I can say I'm actually a bit apprehensive with all this media attention going on, I just dont know if I'm going to have a run in with the police for something stupid which obviously has been escalating rather quickly.

I'll tell you, with all this media attention and police crackdowns, it's no fun getting from Brooklyn to the Greenway in the city anymore.
At every red light and stop sign, I find myself doing a 360 degree look-around for cops hiding behind poles and bushes.
I've seen a cyclist go cautiusly through a light with people walking through that light, and they grab the cyclist.
Add to that mix a cop whose feelings get hurt easily, and you have a real problem.

I think the bystandard was criticizing the cyclist for riding on the sidewalk, saying that he should know better. The cop says something like stay out of it, and they get into an argument. Arguing with a cop equals arrest in NY.

That cop is soft...He has the rank of Sergeant...he has two Police Officers with him....he calls on his radio for back up to effect an arrest....civillian made a joke...and it became a pissing match....you rarely win (on the street) when that happens...but the guy may win in court, but who wants to go through that process?

Clearly, abuse of authority is at play here. Just my thoughts on that vid FWIW

This is fairly standard policing in black neighborhoods. The only unique part is the white guy getting busted.

What a enormous waste of time and money.
