Southern California - Irvine...... Need a bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi all. I will be in Irvine the week of 5-16-11 and I am in need of a 54cm road bike. I have emailed Jax as well as RocknRoad cyclery asking about rentals but I am still waiting on a response. Anyone have any other contacts I should try? Thanks

Gotta be a 54? Damn, I've got a 58 and a 60 that I'd loan you in a heartbeat.
In Irvine you could try A Road Bike 4 U. They are pretty upper-tier though. Sand Canyon Cyclery in Irine could probably rent you a Cannondale.
Best bet is to ask around this forum just as you are. There are about 10,000 riders here in Irvine and somebody will have a 54cm backup bike they can loan you. Good luck!

Thank you. I appreciate that. At 5'8" I am on the short side. I could stretch onto a 56 or fold into a 52 but I figured I may as well at least try to get the correct size. I am hoping to get a few miles in so I would like to fit half decently. I know, beggars can't be chosers :)
I will try the 2 shops that you mentioned as well.

I have a 54cm 2003 Allez. I think I'd feel a little weird loaning a bike to someone I don't know but if you can't come up with something else, I might be able to get over my phobia.

Here's a plug for another website...but I just enrolled at www.neighborgoods.net to loan and borrow with a little more accountability...:)

Ill keep the "possible" offer in my back pocket as a last resort. I am a Specialized dealer so rest assured your bike would be well cared for.

Look into The Path bike shop in Tustin. $55 a day, though. As of Jan, they had this for you > Specialized 2011 Roubaix Expert, 54cm

If you race, there is a Thursday night crit at the old El Toro Marine Base

Lots of good MTB in the area as well if you are interested.

Since you were looking for a midweek ride as well, A Road Bike 4 U has a Wednesday night group ride starting at their shop. Not sure if it's listed at socalcycling.com yet. Seems like a relatively newly formed ride.
Also, as a backup-backup plan, I have a 2009 Fuji Roubaix in 54cm you could use while you're here.
