Introductions - Hello Everyone!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi, My name is Geoff.

I just registered on here, because I have a bunch of questions, and the car forum I was asking on wasn't very helpful. I've looked at this site a few times, and finally decided to register. Because of my "creeping" I found out about MMM, and I'm looking forward to doing the 50k in June.
I started riding last summer (June ish 2010), mainly because I've always had a gut, and wanted to loose it. Several thing actually combined to get me going. I got a new phone (HTC Incredible) that allowed GPS tracking. I also used Google to find out about the bike trails. Those two things and the fact that I could track my routes and count my burned calories provided a good start. After a few rides I realized in order to extend my distance, I needed to be able to carry more water. I had heard of a "camelbak" before. After a bit of research and a quick trip to Bass pro I had all I needed. I began a few weekly rides, and by the end of the season I had a daily 20 mile route, that I actually did everyday!
I didn't see a place for a "Ride thread", so I'll mix them in on here. I have 3 bikes, an OLD Mongoose, a newer trek, and some kinda of crossover bike. I'll edit this post once I have pictures of them. I do have some questions, but I know typical forum rules so I'll make individual threads for each one.

Edits:
Trek 7200. This is my moms bike. But as I'm the only one who rides, it's become mine

Trek 3700. This used to be my sisters bike, but her use of it was even more scarce then my mom, so it also became mine.

Mongoose. This is "Old Faithful". It used to be my Dads, when he passed on it became mine. Ironically, it's the only bike that hasn't broken mid ride, not counting that flat....

I'm looking forward to becoming an active member on here, especially once it warms up. :thumb:

Hi Geoff.

I needed to be able to carry more water. I had heard of a "camelbak" before. After a bit of research and a quick trip to Bass pro I had all I needed.
You can also put a second bottle cage on the seat tube. Then you'll have two water bottles for your rides.

I didn't see a place for a "Ride thread", so I'll mix them in on here.
There's no Ride Thread forum. Post threads in the appropriate forum -- Road Cycling, General Cycling, Regional subforums, Hybrids, etc.

Thanks for the response!
I haven't had good luck with water bottles. They'll either bounce out, or I have to slow down to drink them. I'm not a big fan of stopping for anything, so I don't use them anymore.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. I came from a car forum, so by ride thread, I meant an individual thread for each bike, with a list of mods and accessories. I haven't seen a sub forum for it, so I think what's above will be all I do.

Nice stable, but you need a road bike :P

I would, but I HATE riding on the road. I mean, yea it's nicer and you can go faster, but I just feel like a dick.
Plus I would be a hypocrite. I only ride on the road when the sidewalk runs out, and I plan my routes to use the most sidewalk.
