Hi everyone,

I'm new at this forum and I am excited to get into the world of cycling! I plan on starting to commute to work (mostly roads and occasional park rides) and am researching and looking into getting a good hybrid commuting bike. I'm currently looking at two models and would appreciate any suggestions and help.

The 2011 Trek FX 7.3 runs around $699-719 here in Canada, and one of the LBS has a 2010 Kona dew plus on sale for $549. I've test rode both and they both feel fine. I don't mind paying a bit more for the Trek if it is worth it.

The Trek FX:

The 2010 Kona Dew Plus:

Thanks for any help in advance!

The Kona Dew looks like it has higher level components even if only slightly. Since Kona is a 2010 model, it's probably discounted which is why it has a lower price. The larger tires on the Kona might be cushier and slower. Ride both and see how they feel. There are likely some differences in the ride; ride them for 15-30 minutes and see if you notice any differences that you like better.

So the Kona dew actually has better parts than the Trek 7.3? What would be the benefits of the 7.3 over the dew plus then? Thanks.
